Vivilore opened in August 2012, to brother-sister business partners, who poured so much love into the space. After operating the restaurant for nearly 12 years, new ownership was established in 2024. Located in the heart of the historic, Englewood Arts District in Independence, Missouri, “Vivilore” comes from Latin; viva means life and lore means story — life story.

The historic building’s inviting entrance of ivy-covered brick attracts onlookers from afar, and, the extravagant courtyard garden with aromas of delicate, beautiful flowers & exotic plants excite the senses.
Vivilore offers a wide variety of cuisine from rib-eyes to wild Pacific salmon to burgers. We get a lot of produce from local farms, and we grow some of our herbs in the garden. Our lunch menu is mostly sandwiches, including, a lobster roll, Reuben, BLT and chicken salad. Discover our complete menu here, and pair with one of our delicious cocktails and fine wines. Our elegant bar room, is the perfect place to gather for libations.
The three floors of retail space above the restaurant consist of: (local) art, antiques, home decor, garden statuary and more. You will find new, modern products mixed in with treasured antiques from estate sales and auctions. Vivilore is full of unique and surprising pieces, everywhere you look.
